Emily is a native of
Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Growing up in this area of the
country, she learned the integral parts of the horse world. She
gained invaluable experience doing chores at a local breeding and
sales barn, and riding anything she could get her hands on. Her
favorite part was working with the many young horses there, from
foal watching through getting them started under saddle and
excelling in the performance ring. From the quiet mannered owner of
the farm, Emily learned and developed a methodical process of
working with and starting the young horses. She truly appreciated
the hard work and patience it took to raise and start a young horse
correctly and she enjoyed every minute of it, especially with the
ponies!
In her junior years,
Emily rode with Bradley Caine of Right in Stride and Jerry
Frankhouser of Hammer Creek Farm showing in both the hunter and
jumper rings with much success from Pony Hunters & Pony Jumpers to
the Children’s Hunter & High Adult Jumpers. The experience Emily
gained from being surrounded by top quality horses enabled her to
recognize quality young horses and ponies who have gone on to become
USEF champions. Emily feels that the youngsters are the best part
and most rewarding aspect of the horse industry. In 2003, Magic Hill
Farm was purchased and the renovations started to make it a great
place to raise young horses. Please see the ABOUT MHF PAGE.
Over the years, Emily’s
passion to work with and promote quality young horses and ponies has
flourished into a successful show program. Graduates from her “magic
program” include Ambleside Touch of Grey who
successfully went on to do the Children’s and Large Pony Hunters,
Magic Formula who went on to win in the Small Pony
Hunters including earning ribbons at Devon and Harrisburg, and many
others. She was also proud to make her mark in the sales ring in
2008 at the Pony Finals sale in KY. Farmore Crown Jewel,
who at $41,500, set the new world record for the highest price 3yo
Pony Filly ever sold at public auction.
In 2006, 2007 & 2008,
Emily was proud to show her clients’ horses to the top of the hunter
and pony breeding classes. In 2007, Magic Hill Farm had 3USEF Zone
II Champions & 1 Reserve Champion, 1USHJA Champion and 1 Reserve
Champion, 12 PA Horse Show Association Champions and 4 Reserve
Champions.
The 2008 show season
proved to be the best yet, with starting the year off by winning 3
classes on Pony Breeding Day at Devon and bringing home the Best
Pennsylvania Bred Pony Championship with Middleway’s
Handsome Devil, bred and raised at Magic Hill Farm.
Another highlight was Fox With Three Sox
winning the National USEF 3yr Hunter Breeding Championship. For
2008, Emily was thrilled to promote her clients’ horses and ponies
to the result of: 1 National USEF Champion, 3 USEF Zone II Champions
& 1 Reserve, 2 USHJA Champions, 8 PHSA Champions and 2 Reserve
Champions.
Through proper handling
and attentive care, Emily looks forward to continuing to raise,
campaign, and start quality youngsters that any top professional
would be proud to have in his or her barn. She whole heartedly
enjoys the
labor of love that this business requires, and the reward of seeing
her “Magic kids” blossom into fantastic performance horses.
Emily resides
at the farm with her fiancée, Marcus, her yellow lab, Rufus, and her
2 Jack Russells, Pixie and Snowflake, and 2 great barn cats, Starman
and Cleo.
